While they may look hairless, most do, in fact have a very fine layer of fuzz. This is due to a mutation in the gene that creates keratin and hair follicles. Most of the hairs form underdeveloped and are very weak, so they break away and fall out often. Because humans continue to breed them because of their looks, the mutated gene lives on.
